Care Guide

All of our knitwear is made using the highest quality materials and made by skilled craftspeople in the UK. These materials are delicate and must be treated with love and care; they will reward you by lasting a lifetime.

Hand washing

We would recommend hand washing all of your Mussi knitwear in cool - lukewarm water using liquid wool detergent.

Gently move the garment around in the bubbles, then carefully squeeze out soapy water, never wring knitwear as this could stretch it.

Rinse thoroughly in clean water, and then squeeze out again.

Carefully roll up the garment in a large towel to squeeze out more water.

DO NOT SPIN IN THE MACHINE.

Dry flat.

Using a low iron setting, gently iron any curled edges using a damp cloth to protect the knit.

Pilling

Pilling is a normal occurrence for wool and cashwool knitted items even when using the best quality yarns, and may occur particularly in places of friction.

To remove pills gently brush with a pilling comb, fabric shaver or pick off by hand being carful not to pull too hard and stretch the stitches.

The best time to do by hand is when the garment is still slightly damp from washing.

Use the razor when the garment is dry, we reccomend https://steamery.co.uk/fabric-shavers

Specific Item Care

Ruffs: follow the steps above for washing -  Gently steam pleats back into shape using high temperature and steam setting, use a damp cloth to protect the knit.

Knight Jumpers: Follow the steps above for washing taking extra case of the porcelain buttons - you can also consider freezing or airing your jumper outside instead of washing, this will help kill bacteria and refresh the garment.

Natural Dyes

For the first few washes the colour may run, this is due to excess dye being held in the fibres of the fabric or yarn.

Wash naturally dyed silks and wools individually in cool-lukewarm water using liquid wool soap. Do expect to see some of the dye run into the water.

Rinse thoroughly in clean water, and then squeeze out again.

Carefully roll up the garment in a large towel to squeeze out more water.

Dry flat.

Using a low iron setting, gently iron any curled edges using a damp cloth to protect the knit.
